Coastal Walks

Two favorites are the Coogee to Bondi walk and the Spit to Manly walk.

Coogee to Bondi
This walk extends for about 6 km’s and can take up to 3 to 4 hours at a very leisurely pace including frequent stops.  There are several beaches on the way and all have amenities and cafes.  The walk is well signposted.
To get to Coogee from Holiday Inn you need to get to Flinders St near Oxford St.  Turn right out of the hotel and take Victoria St all the way to Oxford St and this will take you about 15 minutes.  Cross Oxford St and turn right up Oxford St and left at Flinders and the bus stop is a few meters down Flinders St.  Wave down the next Coogee Bus.

After the walk and you have had a look around Bondi Beach, catch a bus at the southern end of Bondi Beach on the hill.  Any bus going back to the city is ok and get off on Oxford St, near Flinders St where you first caught the bus to Coogee.  Ask the driver to stop near Flinders St if you are unsure when to get off.

Spit Junction to Manly
This is an awesome walk around the coast from Spit Junction to Manly.  It is approximately 10km and takes around 4 hours.  Take plenty of water if the weather looks like a hot one as there are no shops on the way.

To get to Spit Junction, buses leave from stands A and C to E in Carrington St, Wynyard.  Bus numbers to look for are L80, L85, L88, L90, 169, 180, 183, 244 and 246.  Always check with the driver to make sure it is stopping at Spit Junction and ask him to let you know when to get off.  The bus ride takes approx. 20 min’s, depending on traffic.

Once you get to Manly you will probably be ready for some lunch and I recommend a place called Pure Wholefoods (can be very busy in the weekend so get there before lunchtime).  Check out their website below and how to get there.  It is close to the Manly Ferry, your ride home!  http://www.purewholefoods.com.au/

We often take the Manly Ferry to have lunch there and home again.
